As you get rid of insects in your home, this might come as a surprise that cockroaches are more nutritious than your regular milk, and other sources of protein. It is actually a fantastic protein supplement.
But if you can’t stand the sight of it and want to get a taste of this “yummilicious” delicacy, read on.
Researchers from the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem) in Bengaluru, have recently found the truth about this fantastic protein supplement which reportedly contains three times three times more energy per unit when compared with an equivalent mass of dairy.
it turns out cockroaches serve a greater purpose than simply to invade our homes as the annoying pests they are.
Historically, salmon, blueberries, and kale have been touted as a few of the most nutrient-rich foods we can put into our bodies. A new study by the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in India (inStem), however, reveals that cockroach milk might be the greatest superfood yet.
Research shows the Pacific beetle cockroach has the mammal-like ability to produce milk to feed its offspring, and the milk it “lactates” is full of protein-dense crystals that boast essential amino acids, sugars and healthy fat.
“The crystals are like a complete food—they have proteins, fats and sugars. If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids,” said India Today quoted Sanchari Banerjee, one of the main authors of the paper published in July in the journal from the International Union of Crystallography
Having found about the protein, the scientists are now planning to generate it in large quantities with help of yeast microbes.
The researchers from the Institute have also observed that the newly found protein is a highly stable one and will have huge calorie values in human systems.
Lol, now you know!
